THE PETE CONWAY SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
About the Scholarship
The Pete Conway Scholarship, instituted by the Skiff Sailing Association, is a prestigious award designed to support and nurture the most deserving young sailor. Named in honour Pete Conway, a visionary in the world of sailing, this scholarship reflects his passion for excellence, dedication to mentoring, and commitment to the sport in India.
Mission
To recognize talent, reward hard work, and remove barriers for the next generation of O'pen skiff sailors, enabling them to achieve their full potential on and off the water.
Scholarship Benefits
Recipients of the Pete Conway Scholarship will receive:
- Training Support: Access to high-performance coaching by certified coaches.
- Equipment Provision: Funded Support for an O’pen Skiff or similar class boat for the scholarship year.
- Event Sponsorship: Entry fees and logistics support for national and international regattas.
- Travel Allowance: Assistance for training camps and competitions.
- Mentorship: Guidance from elite sailors and coaches.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
1. Be between the ages of 11 and 16 years.
2. Be actively participating in skiff sailing events for at least one year.
3. Demonstrate exceptional sailing skills, sportsmanship, and commitment to the sport.
4. Showcase financial need (optional but prioritized).
Selection Process
The Skiff Sailing Association Committee, nominated personnel and performance coaches, will review applications and select the most deserving sailor based on:
1. Performance Record: Past achievements and regatta results.
2. Potential: Demonstrated growth and future potential in skiff sailing.
3. Commitment: Dedication to training and improving skills.
4. Need: Financial need and access to resources.
How to Apply
Interested sailors can follow these steps:

- A personal statement explaining why you deserve the scholarship.
- A letter of recommendation from a coach or mentor.
- Copies of regatta results or sailing achievements.
- (Optional) Financial documents to demonstrate need.

- Recipients will be evaluated biannually on:
- Skill improvement.
- Regatta performance.
- Commitment to training.
- Scholarships may be renewed for an additional year based on performance and committee recommendation.
5. Reporting and Accountability
- Recipient Progress Reports: Submitted quarterly by the recipient and reviewed by the committee.
- Donor Updates: Annual report shared with donors highlighting the impact of their contributions.
